Great Neighborhood Watch or Just an A-Hole in Arcadia California?

Posted by mikenopolis on August 10, 2008

I decided to walk around the nice and quite areas of Arcadia (Calfornia) this afternoon and take some nature photos, trees, flowers, bird etc. and came upon a house with a good ol’ American flag. There was a nice breeze and I decided to take a picture of it swaying in the wind. Innocent right???

I turned around and up comes a SUV, the car had a couple and a child in the back, the passenger side window opens, and this “altercation” occured:

Driver: Are you looking for someone?
Me: No.
Driver: Then what are you doing?
Me: Taking pictures.
Driver: Of What?
Me: Trees
Driver: No you weren’t
Me: Huh?
Driver: I saw you, you were taking a picture of the house.
Me: No I wasn’t, I was getting a shot of the flag.
Driver: No you weren’t
Me: Huh? Yes I was, wanna see?
Driver: No, Why?
Me: I’m just taking random photo of nature and thought that flag would be a good picture.
Driver: Why?
Me: It’s just photography, it that your house?
Driver: No, It’s my friend’s
Me: Oh, does your “friend” not like people taking pictures of his flag?

The driver pulls away without another word and I continued on my way waiting for a cop to pull up. Nothing ever happened, I got a 100 or so shots of the scenery and headed home.

I’m not sure if the guy was just being over protective of the neighborhood or he was just a stupid asshole. why would someone want to stake out that house? it’s a one-story house that looks like it’s a little over 2,000 square feet, the homes in the next street is like 5 times bigger and better! But that’s not the stupid part of all this, why would a guy staking out a tiny house be on foot…..with a $1,000 camera with a huge ass lens? Do I look that much like a criminal?!?!?

I think I’m going to take more pictures in that area just to see if he shows up. What a prick. It’s a freaken American flag, it’s patriotic!
